Early 1900's Start
Windheim Plumbing & Heating opened its doors in 1911 at 420 Franklin Avenue in Nutley, NJ. The Windheim Plumbing & Heating building was erected by Fred Thomas Windheim, Senior. In the early 1900's, the Windheim family also owned a peach orchard and were florists in the town.
From 1911 to 1930, the Nutley area grew, and Windheim Plumbing & Heating employed 40 plumbers. After the Great Depression, the business shrunk down to the five original Windheim brothers: Fred, John, Henry, Conrad and Arti.
In 1969, second generation Fred Thomas Windheim, Jr. took ownership of the business and continued a tradition of excellence in plumbing by expanding the business from plumbing repairs to include residential kitchen and bathrooms residential renovations.
In 1998, Fred Jr. passed the torch to his son Fred (Tom) Windheim III. Tom continues to uphold the family business as a third generation Windheim, employing the same principles established by his grandfather and father which started almost a century ago.

The town of Nutley is also still home for the Windheim's, where family members participate in various civic organizations and give back to the community. Windheim Plumbing actively supports the Nutley Educational Foundation and the John H. Walker Memorial Foundation. Windheim Plumbing has also annually been sponsoring the Nutley Little League, for 40+ years. We also donate to various community and educational endeavors such as Nutley's Relay for Life, scout groups and school PTO's.
